About

16 years ago, 6 pals went to the Nurburgring, 12 years ago, 6 more went to Le Mans; the rest is history.
Of those few folk, each has either owned, or currently owns at least one of the following:

993,    944 turbo,    986,    996 turbo,    996 turbo S,    987 Cayman,    997 Carerra S,    997 turbo 1,    997 turbo 2,    991 Targa,

991 GT3,   991 GT3 RS

None are standard, yet every one started out that way - as buying a modified Porsche is such a no-no.  We disagree with that.  For those that genuinely want to drive the wheels off of their cars, this is the place for you, or at least we think so.

911UK.COM has been an absolute wealth of information, as have a great number of Porsche Independents;  Some, not so much though, as they only deal with standard Porsches, and then only road cars; And therein lies the issue some might say.  Do you know how many Porsches operate in Time Attack in the UK? - One.  In Japan, the most successful cars aren't Japanese nutter quad rotors, they're Porsche, same for NZ, same for Sweden, Germany, Australia, the US!!  That is completely insane - they Podium at Le Mans every year in any class they care to enter.  The last time they didn't, it was 1969.

Maybe it is for this reason then, that race-car builders and race teams have been the go-to guys in many cases as we worked through the process of building something better.   The really obvious one was the turbo Cayman - Why not give the grunt of a GT2 to a mid-engined Porsche and see what it did.   Many have, many do.  Even Porsche have moved away from from the rear-engine GT3 RSR in WEC.  It is 'more like a mid-engine car' they say.  In actual fact, the engine bay, from the B Pillar back in fact, is virtually identical to a Cayman - and an old Cayman at that.

Some stuff we learned the hard way, and some stuff, truth be told, we had to go back to the drawing board on; and had to make from scratch but everything that we did learn is here In return, we ask that you share your homework too.

There is a storage limit in each PorscheProject area, which, while utilizing UHD will expire within a few images; utilizing a lesser photo quality will in turn increase the space available and options to showcase your project car.

As the mass produced Porsches come down in price, we see the emergence of the £10k 911, the £10k 987; something unheard of in previous years. With this comes a step change in the numbers of people willing and able to tinker with, what has previously been the thing of dreams, a pride and joy.  These cars come with all the motor-sport know-how and trickery that they left the factory with at a fraction of the cost.

Increasing the capabilities then, of a car that, when new, outperformed the likes of the Audi R8 supercar, is now accessible to all.  The R8, after all, was never pitted against the likes of a GT2, not even a 911 turbo; its sparring partner was a 911 Carrera, or Carrera S at best.

Add to that, that the GT3, arguably the most successful track car ever, is in fact a Carrera underneath - yes, the chassis is the same - then the possibilities, the options, and potential to make a Hyper-car's nightmare out of a £10k base car has been here for a number of years now.

The days of polishing Porsches for posterity (and one's pension) is over, the days of Porsche Projects are here!
